At AIChE India SRC 2025, sustainability isn’t just a theme—it’s a responsibility we’re embracing from the inside out. As we gather to discuss engineering’s role in building a Net Zero future, we are also making sure that the way we host this conference reflects the values we promote.

This begins with a clear commitment to reducing waste at every stage. From registration to wrap-up, operations will prioritize minimal resource use and maximum efficiency. We are shifting toward digital-first communication, reducing unnecessary printing, and streamlining updates through QR codes and online platforms. While some printed materials may remain for accessibility, their use is being consciously minimized.

Our event infrastructure is designed to be as sustainable as possible. Stage and stall materials will be reused or recyclable, and plastic use is strictly limited. Water stations will be set up to avoid bottled water consumption, and we’re working with vendors to ensure packaging and disposables are biodegradable wherever feasible.

Food management is another key area of focus. We are coordinating with catering partners to ensure that food waste is actively tracked and surplus food is redirected through local donation efforts, where possible. Meals will be served using compostable or reusable dishware, ensuring that the event doesn’t leave behind heaps of disposables.

Beyond infrastructure, we’re introducing awareness initiatives to engage participants. Dedicated booths and displays will spotlight green innovations, student-led sustainability projects, and practical tips for low-impact living. Our team is also working behind the scenes to monitor the event’s environmental footprint—exploring local partnerships that can help offset our carbon impact in meaningful, traceable ways.
